Curated Exhibitions

2020

November 14, 2020- January 10, 2021- curated By Tim Davis “The story of our Skin” is a portraiture and figurative exhibition which features people of color in everyday life through portraits and history of black Americans. These four artists, Al Burts, Luis Del Valle, J'Nell Jordan and Preston Sampson,  transform materials to create their paintings and mixed media compositions on canvas, wood, metal signs, handmade paper, and other innovative techniques. The exhibition is meant to show the artistic skill and the narratives of these fine artists and the strength and dignity of black people who have been marginalized, resilient and continue to move forward and make our society a better place. www.facebook.com/Artspgparks/videos/151755216313616

THE RESILIENCE PROJECT

The Resilience art collaboration is narrative of communicating resilience based prompts that can be shared through words, music, videos etc. This is an artist to artist collaborate exchange that allowed artists to create within their studios different concepts related to the prompts and also for them continue their practice. This exchange stimulated content, form, context and function. This exhibition is the result of exploring the moments of quarantine through painting, design, sculpture, photography, and writing. Curated and organized by Tim Davis

400 Years: Journey of the Diaspora, Washington D.C.

2019

400 Years of the Diaspora 1619-2019 is an exhibition curated by Tim Davis and Alana Theard. The show has debuted at Prince George’s African Museum and Cultural Center, September 21st-October 26th, 2019.

400 Years of the Diaspora is a visual journey into the spirit and soul of the descendants of the snatched and enslaved African people from the shores of their Motherland.  The rendering of concepts should span the time from 1619 to 2019 that includes “all ethnicities” within the African Diaspora.

This exhibition brings together interdisciplinary and intergenerational artists from the African Diaspora to commemorate 400 years since the enslavement of African people was initiated. The exhibit will speak to the various narratives and themes based on the expressions of the various narratives and discourses.
